What to Expect Before Your First Session

• Goal Setting: Prior to our first session, we’ll discuss your child’s reading goals.

• No Supplies Needed: I provide all books and reading materials.

• Stress-Free Evaluation: Instead of rigid testing, I assess skills naturally and continuously during our reading time together. (Note: I do not conduct formal reading level assessments.)

Session Details & Customization

• Flexible Curriculum: I tailor lessons to your child’s reading ability, interests, and goals. Additionally, I adjust lessons weekly to match their progress. I also accommodate specific book requests whenever possible.

• Gentle Guidance: As your child reads, I offer gentle guidance, encouragement, and corrections as necessary.

• Interactive Learning: We pause often throughout the book to discuss the story and check for reading comprehension. To make reading approachable, I guide learners in breaking tricky words into smaller, manageable parts—helping them build confidence step-by-step.

• Gamified Warm-Ups: At the beginning of our follow-up sessions, I provide targeted practice of challenging sounds or words by playing a customized game of phonics tic-tac-toe.

• Optional Practice: Upon request, I provide optional practice work if it’s something you feel your child will utilize.

• Supportive Feedback: After your first session, you will receive a detailed follow-up email from me with recommended next steps.

One-on-One Online ESL Tutoring

English learners will practice their speaking, reading, and listening skills with an experienced online ESL tutor. I use the interactive Crystal Clear ESL Curriculum to help students learn new vocabulary, sentences structures, and grammar.

We will focus heavily on proper pronunciation and speaking in complete sentences. Students will speak as much as possible to improve fluency in English. We will extend each lesson through conversation.
